The 17.4PH stainless steel sheet plate most well known precipitation hardening steel is 17.4PH stainless steel sheet plate. The name comes from the additions 17% Chromium and 4% Nickel. It also contains 4% Copper and 0.3% Niobium. 17.4PH stainless steel sheet plate is also known as stainless steel grade 630.
Grade | C | Mn | Si | P | S | Cr | Ni | Cu | Nb+Ta | |
630 | min. max | - 0.07 | - 1 | - 1 | - 0.04 | - 0.030 | 15 17.5 | 3 5 | 3 5 | 0.15 0.45 |
17.4PH stainless steel has excellent corrosion resistance. Corrosion tests and service experience have shown that in all aged conditions it is superior to standard hardenable stainless grades such as SUS 420, SUS 431 and SUS 410. Its corrosion resistance is comparable to grade SUS 304 Stainless.
This material provides excellent corrosion resistance (comparable to grade 304) for many chemical, paper, and food processing industries, and it withstands corrosive attacks better than most hardenable stainless steels. These properties give designers the ability to add reliability to their products while simplifying fabrication and often reducing their costs.
