ASTM 316L stainless steel pipe is the low carbon grade of 1.4401 steel. It shows good acid resistance. It is insensitive to carbide precipitation at grain boundaries and therefore unaffected by sensitization. In contrast, ASTM 316L stainless steel pipe has acid resistance and excellent weld quality. It is widely used in the manufacture of equipment components for the automotive, shipbuilding, chemical, pharmaceutical, food and oil and gas industries.
